Cuno Water Filters
Every home should use a filter system and one of the best known brands is Cuno Water Filters.
How do you know you need a water filter in your home? We all used to believe that our local public water authority kept our water clean and safe to drink. Most of them do their best but you cannot be 100% sure that it is free from sediment or disease causing micro-organisms. The water has to pass through a distribution network before it reaches your home. It can pick up sediment at any point on this journey.
This sediment while not always causing health problems can play havoc with your electrical machines such as your washer, dishwasher and hot water heater. The buildup of this material in the pipes of these machines causes the appliances to become ineffective, use more energy and eventually breaks.
Cuno Water Filter Brands
Cuno Water Filters are now owned by 3dm and their residential products are marketed under three different brand names. The Aqua Pure Water Filters range is a comprehensive line of filtration products available covering a basic faucet tap to the in house system. These products are available at any plumbing retailer.
Water factory systems cover reverse osmosis treatment which is an extremely effective form of filtration. Reverse osmosis involves a number of stages. Rust and calcium particles are first trapped using a sediment filter. The strained water is then run through a second smaller pored filter to remove any remaining sediment. The next process involves trapping chlorine and other chemicals which could damage the osmosis membrane. A carbon filter is also used to remove any remaining chemicals. Some reverse osmosis systems include an ultra violet lamp as it is very effective in tackling any microorganisms that could be present in the water. You cannot buy this product from an ordinary shop but they are available through your water conditioning dealer.
Finally the third brand of Cuno water filters is MacClean which is only available through your well driller so you would buy before building your home. As the filtering system can be put in place before the house is fully constructed, it means that you can achieve protection from all forms of contamination. The well driller will be able to use a treatment system to remove iron, acid and hydrogen sulfide. Removing iron and acid will help to prevent your laundry becoming stained due to the water quality. You won’t have any rotten egg smells coming from your tap as the hydrogen sulfide has been removed. They will also control the bacteria levels in the water pumped into your home. If you incorporate the filtration in the house plans, it will save you money in the long term.
Regardless of the Cuno water filter system you install you need to maintain these filters once they are in place. Failure to carry out the correct maintenance, which will depend on the system you have chosen, can result in a buildup of microorganisms and chemicals in your water supply. This can make it unhealthier to drink than it was prior to the system being installed. Proper maintenance instructions and schedules will be provided at point of sale. Alternatively you can also contact Cuno if you have any questions.
